Loved the awkward silence between Yun Yun and Nalan, both trying to ferret out how much the other likes XY 🤣

Dase • 2 years ago

By the way. nothing to do with Doupo Cangqiong, but have you noticed that Han Li from Fanren looks very similar to Ning Rongrong's father Ning Fengzhi?

Surprisingly different studio and different producers (Tencent vs Bilibili)

douluo • 2 years ago

Yes indeed I did notice the resemblance! lol

Dase • 2 years ago

Both fell in love with another Xiao Yan (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ both awkward with the decision they made, Yun Yun agreeing with Yanran to dissolve her engagement with Xiao Yan and Yanran asking Yun Yun for support and agreement to dissolve the engagement

Sadly only one of the wins out at the end of the novel .·´¯`(>▂<)´¯`·.

vio • 2 years ago

Firstly, thanks for sharing that information regarding the family names in the other post you made. I always assumed with large Chinese families like that somewhere down their family tree they must have had a set of great, great, great grand parents who focused on nothing but breeding or that their family adopted a lot of children over time.

In regard to what you said about only one of them winning out in the end, was it Yun Yun because she had more time with him as the leader of the flower sect when Xiao Yan made the alliance?

Dase • 2 years ago

I simplified the post about the same surname, there are other reasons for having the same surname, but it essentially it boils down to loyalty, benefits and marriage, and in sects disciples often follows the surname of the master.

And you are not wrong about their ancestors breeding like rabbits, dont forget multiple wives and concubines are a thing as well (^▽^)

Yes it is Yun Yun, although she doesnt marry Xiao Yao, but she does get invited to live with him at Wu Tan City at the end of the novel, the author leaves it to the readers' interpretation of that, but given the cultural aspect of women's purity, "living" is pretty much marrying, since it would tarnish a woman's reputation if she lives with a man

The novel doesnt say if Yanran goes with Yun Yun, ironically she is the one who passes on the message/invitation to Yun Yun to live with Xiao Yan, this might have to do with Xiao Yan not willing to accept Yanran after what she has done indirectly to his entire clan and she has not done anything for Xiao Yao with the exception of using a spiritual fox to help them guide out of a spiritual maze and sadly she is often used as a messenger between Xiao Yan and Yun Yun
Yun Yun, Little Fairy Doctor and Ya Fei were invited to live with him along with his two wives
Yun Yun through a message that Yanran delivers

Little Fairy Doctor, Xiao Yan personally goes to her doctor's hut where she was healing people and asks her to come with him
Ya Fei, Xiao Yan uses himself along with several billion gold as a bidding offer during an auction (TOTALLY did not expect that Ya Fei would be one of his targets)

I personally find it weird and sad, cause Yanran could have been a waifu, a lot of people will disagree with me but hear me out, yes I agree that what she did to Xiao Yan's clan is inexcusable. however. did anyone really cared? apart from Xiao Yan's father, not a single one of the Xiao Clan cared about him, he was bullied, looked down upon, ostracized and insulted (Xun Er doesnt count since she isnt really part of the Xiao Clan) and in fact he didnt even care about the Xiao Clan, he only cared about his father and two brothers, sure he cared about the Xiao family name but that was to the extent of it, he didnt really care about the Clan members.

and yes Yanran didnt do much for Xiao Yan in comparison to Yun Yun or any of the other women for that matter, besides the most important thing of all, Yun Yun gave him his first kiss (♥_♥)

vio • 2 years ago

I am surprised by that list but also happy with it and it looks like this needs to be added to the harem category. Ya Fei did a lot for the Xiao clan even from season 1 so its understandable that he would think that he owes her a debt that and wants to use the rest of his life to repay it. Season 4 hinted at her feelings for Xiao Yan too.

I can understand your line of thinking in regard to Yanran but wouldn't it also hurt future generations of his family too so his children and their children would live with that shame if he had lost?
Also, after dedicating three years of hellish training almost leading to his death a couple of times for the sole purpose of defeating her and returning his families honour is hard to forget.

Dase • 2 years ago

You arent wrong about bringing shame if he lost, but he did win, perhaps Yanran's regrets might not be enough for Xiao Yan. but if you watch the next episode Xiao Yan did declare that he will have nothing to do with Yun Yun after she "sides" with Yun Shan" and in facts get sneak attacked by Yun Shan and is heavily injured, yet he forgives Yun Yun later on, but in many ways I guess his feelings for Yun Yun is much deeper than Yanran, you are right his interactions with Yun Yun is far more than Yanran. I guess I just feel sorry for Yanran and sometimes I dont understand the author's logic lol

Yes I want Yanran to be with him, she was the one that spurred Xiao Yan to get off his butts and really trained hard, without her I would say he wouldnt not have improved so fast, and yes he would have improved eventually given the help of his master but Yanran was the catalyst and yes I understand why they both should not be together and yes the feeling is one sided (from Yanran) but.... cant I dream? lol I hate the animation studio, why you made Yanran character pretty? if they stuck with a normal looking character maybe I wouldnt have shipped them lol

By the way Xiao Yan eventually becomes a Dou Di (Dou God) one of the only two in the world, beacuse of this, everyone that possesses the Xiao bloodline have their cultivation increased relative to the bloodline distant to Xiao Yan, Xiao Xiao his daughter went straight up to an 8th level Dou Sheng (Dou Saint) from a Dou Zun even surpassing her mother, Medusa's strength.the whole Xiao clan experiences lesser degree of this strength improvement so much so that they figuratively speaking worship him, they obeyed him

vio • 2 years ago

lol there is nothing wrong with dreaming :)

Yanran's character in every aspect, anime, live action, manga and game is visually appealing but her arrogant persona aided peoples dislike of her until the later episodes of season 4 where it showed the pressure she was under when she realized that she was in an arranged marriage. I cant comment on how she looked in the novel because there is no picture of her on the wiki.

If she had approached Xiao Yan's family behind closed doors there is a chance that your ship would have sailed with both her and Xiao Yan being happy for a time at least. As time went on though, her sect would have most likely been used to attack the Xiao Clan anyway considering the hall of souls wanted the Xiao family key which may have caused a rift too but most likely end with him forgiving her if she chose her sect over his family because of that relationship beforehand.

In regard to catalysts for him training further, I believe the trouble that was seen in season 1 with Jia Lie Ao and how he wanted Xun Er would have forced Xiao Yan to train faster to protect her thus continuing his training further as the Xiao family continued their fight against the Jia Lie family. Then there is the trouble surrounding Xiao Xi Yian and rescuing her which was covered in season 2 with probably small changes coming in to the story around season 3 or 4 promoting his need to train even more.

Dase • 2 years ago

Actually Xun Er didnt need protection She actually has two bodyguards, one we have seen Ling Ying, the other one appears much later, and she is very very strong, she just hides her power

Also the fact that she is the first daughter/lady of the Gu Clan and so Xiao Yan would need to be at least a Dou Zong (Dou Venerate) before he even meets the most basic requirement of being worthy of her (in her clan's point of view)

Again you are right, Nalan Yanran spurs him into action, since without the protection of the Yun Lan sect (the engagement afforded the Xiao family some level of protection) the other big families in Wu Tan city began to prey upon the Xiao family and then Xun Er and the reason why his father disappeared Hall of Souls and eventually the kidnapping of Yao Lap's soul he grows up pretty fast, I just hope we dont have to wait 18 years for the entire donghua to be completed, since we are still on the 367ish chapter out of 1648
Four seaons and two side story (the time with Yun Yun and this one. Note the one about Hai Bodong/Medusa's sister isnt considered canon) and it's been like 4 years since it started, so.... 18 years to go if we keep at this pace..........

vio • 2 years ago

to be honest I'm not even sure which chapter we're on as I read the manga version and didnt keep an eye on it. I got up to the stage where Xiao Yan was with Xun Er in the secret dungeon which was the reason for everyone targeting the Xiao family for their key and stopped reading around there.

With regard to Xun Er requiring protection, it was due to her being undercover in season 1 to locate the key so she could steal it but her guards were not around her at that time. That made it easier for her to be targeted by Jia Lie Ao which is why I only mentioned her in season 1 as the catalyst for training.

another 18 years? :(
I know there's a lot of story left but damn that's a long time. Hopefully, it doesn't take that long and that the people working on it are still around then as well as the fans. :)
I guess we should be thankful its not like other Chinese anime/donghua's which are at most 5 minutes long per episode or it would take three times that and would probably lose at least half of their online fanbase because of it since not many can stand them that short.

Dase • 2 years ago

Soul Land is about to finish but their episodes are weekly whereas Doupo Cangqiong is released..... sporadically, however Doupo Cangqiong cuts out some stuff and puts them into the prologue/narration part, so I guess it might work out and we dont have to wait for 18 years ლ(⌒-⌒ლ)

Yeah I read the novels, they are more in-depth while manhwas sometimes cut things out or change certain things like Xiao Yan raping Medusa

vio • 2 years ago

I remember the previous messages we had regarding that difference because it was very different in the manga. Considering what you said about the story ending, I'm curious if china has their own version of doujinshi where fans write a follow on story / side story to what has happened as it would be interesting to see how they finished it off. I'm not interested in the rated R stuff though just the story.

Dase • 2 years ago

Pretty sure they do have, but it would be all underground websites or those with heavy scam and trojan cookies, I have seen R rated renderings on pixv of Medusa, Soul Land and Sword and Fairy characters so it wouldnt be surprising to see doujinshi of doupo cangqiong just need to see who is brave enough to publish them while avoiding Chinese censorship lol

Nikola Nikolov • 1 year ago

honestly after there fight was over in the 3 year agreement match Yan simply reset there relationship to square one no hard feelings left if Nalan wants to actively pursue him shes free to do so but because of her guilt more or less she doesn't at least this is how I'm seeing there relationship develop past the 3 year match

Dase • 1 year ago

Even though Xiao Yan said pretty much bygones be bygones as he burned the engagement letter, he still kept her at a distance. after destroying the Yun Lan sect, Yun Yun and her left Jiama empire and went to the Central Continent. XIao Yan accidentally encounters her and together they enter a trial in order to enter a pool that helps with cultivation. With Xiao Yan's support, he carries her and I mean literally carries her lol and they both pass. Yanran heart wavers and reminisces, she regretfully mumbles softly to herself, "so this is what they mean reap what you sow?" Xiao Yan hears her and he was stunned for a moment but pretends not to have heard what she said. At this point the author could have made things happen :) but it wasnt to be

Rationalist • 1 year ago

I also believe that Yanran lived through hell. The guy that was within her grasp, became Dou Di. Her children would have been godlike.

The author dealt her with a terrible card.

Two potential issues I see:

1. It would be weird inviting Yanran and Yun Yun.
2. The other women he chose, were extraordinary beings. Nalan pales compared to them.

I would invite her though.

DarcZero • 11 months ago

So when yanran wants she can reject him, suddenly if she want XY he should get back with her don’t you think it’s kinda selfish….would she have felt the same way if he didn’t have any power she use to call him trash …my boy XY was sigma… he didn’t wanna be a simp …I’m really happy he kept his distance

synify • 2 years ago

Yunyun totally disappointed me for just watching while her master almost killed XY. I thought she cared more. 👎🏽 YunYun

Dase • 2 years ago

You have to understand in martial arts world, "A master a day is a father for eternity" So filial piety comes to play, especially when Yun Lan Sect has been her home and family for a long time. To go against her master is like going against everything she's known even for Xiao Yan

She does care about Xiao Yan but she is in a dilemma and is torn between her master and Xiao Yan (thought not specified in the novel it Yun Shan more that likely raised her up)

In case people wondering why in sects/town/villages, they have the same surname, it is also because in Chinese culture, in certain town/villages, they also have the same surnames, Xiao, Yun, Gu, Hun etc even though they might not be blood related, this is due to the founder of that particular village/town/clan/sect, when non blood related people came and they want benefits they would change their names to signify their loyalty to that village/town/clan/sect

the next episodes, shows how disappointed Xiao Yan is with her, as she tries to talk to him to prevent him from killing Yun Shan, Yun Shan sneak attacks Xiao Yan and almost kills him, this causes Xiao Yan to throw back the Sea Vest Yun Yun gave him in previous season/side story (I cant remember (⋟﹏⋞) ) and declare that he will have nothing to do with her from then on as he leaves Jia Ma Empire. The Sea Vest is already damaged due to fighting in the previous season/side story but one of the most heart warming things Yun Yun did was to sew it back up with the pieces of tattered materials she actually found up one by one during her time in the Tagar desert

She returns it to Xiao Yan after he kills Yun Shan and destroys Yun Lan sect after coming back from the Jia Nan Arc, and then disappears into the Central Continent with Nalan Yanran but not before Xiao Yan kisses her good bye

\CRYSTAL/ • 2 years ago

#spoiler
well you cant blame her, she is the sect master first before "loving" XY(or lover, however you think) she basically cant do anything against her master(who is no less than being her father figure, remember her master took her in and took care of her from early age, she isn't helping XY but she also isn't helping her master. Thats already bad imagine saying that to XY to betray his master in his "cause" {is the cause right or wrong dosn't matter in this case but the fact that their master seeks their loyalty from their students} and that they take their master no less than being their father)
if she helped XY (at that point she would be no better that the guy who betrayed XY's master {his old student who killed him}) she would be a traitor in the eyes of his master, student, and the whole yun sect (she has a responsibility as a sect master) and in front of her master she has no power to help him in any possible way, rather it might anger her master more and stuff

basically ,I don't think you as ( male/female ) would be betraying you family for your lover ,you might love the person but you also love your family( you have no choice here, but to see the matter unfolding)(well if you hate you family or something thats up to you but ,the case for yun yun is different as she clearly shows she loves her sect and everyone(of course she has oppositions but thats basically the normal political section for the sect or any organization)

Dase • 2 years ago

Absolutely, she is torn between everything she's know, family, home and her love for them vs Xiao Yan
She is trying to calm things down between the two opposing forces but sadly it is out of her hands, Xiao Yan isnt willing to sit down to chat and even if he is he gets sneak attacked in the next episode and we have an angry master and sect
This shows in this episode as she feels powerless and indecisive and had to be reminded by Yun Shan on what to do

OfficialDrixMalone • 2 years ago

I completely understand your reasoning, I agree that it'd be hard to pick either side. She won't dare betray her master or refuse his orders, so it's a real life threatening situation that could lead her on the losing side and end up dead or exiled.

But she actually did help Xiao Yan somewhat though, she barely attacked him, she for the most part stayed out of it staying back in the bleachers aha. Which still could be bad news for her if both parties end up surviving, as the duty of a sect master is to protect her sect and members, allowing a outsider to attack members and destroy not only her sect but reputation, is damn near betrayal/treason not helping her master (just like the ones who helped Yun Shan with his super bow formation)!!

Teacher flexing on white hair guy.

Loved the moment when white hair guy slightly left crack of void but teacher immediately leaves a hole into the void lol.

blanka- • 2 years ago

this episode did feel like a minute wow. From weird and forgotten animation in s1 to 3D glory and now to this. It has come a long way. Big budget season I bet. Loving it!!

Dase • 2 years ago

Well Doupo Cangqiong was one of the most popular novel in China, along with Soul Land, King's avatar

The studio that is making Doupo has improved their animations and not to mention Soul Land another Tencent funded donghua is about to end (close to the end of the novel anyway) it isnt surprising that Tencent would fund the Doupo studio more money, more money means better animation and voicelines

They have also turn Doupo's author's other works into live action and donghua if anyone is interested

-The Martial Universe (Wu Dong Qian Kun) new story, new main character and new world, time line is set in parallel to Doupo
- The Great Ruler (Da Zhu Zai) can be considered as a sequel to both Doupo Cangqiong and Martial Universe, though it isnt about them since the main character is different and set in another world, time line is after Doupo Cangqiong and Martial Universe (Xiao Yan and a few characters appears in it, especially his two children)

blanka- • 2 years ago

thank you. I have watched martial universe long ago. i think its the one with fox stone. havent watched the great ruler. will give it a go since you mentioned that. :)

Dase • 2 years ago

Martial Universe is in 3D but for some reason The Great Ruler is in 2D

In terms of live action, I didnt watch the entire shows, since they based it loosely from the source material, Martial Universe wasnt too bad, The Great Ruler was horrible, Battle through the Heavens was horrible

But that is my personal opinion ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

yun shan:gets angry bout mc causing some damage to sect, proceed to fight void shattering battles around the sect..... BRUH

OfficialDrixMalone • 2 years ago

Right lol, shows how stupid he truly is and since the sect has a master like that, you can bet his stupidity was contagious and rubbed off on them too smh. Creating a huge wind tornado/vortex right by your sect is beyond idiotic, causing so much destruction than Xiao Yan did, especially right before saying he didn't want his sect destroyed aha; which shows you how little he cared about his sect or the individual members of his sect putting their lives in danger. It's pretty bad when your enemy even was trying not to cause too much damage to the sects lands and members, being courteous and keeping his integrity since the members are technically innocent. Xiao Yan preventing others from getting hurt or fatal wounds shows his character even when enraged and emotionally pained from that dick head's (Yun Leng) assault on his Xiao family (well his father really lol) was pure chaos & destruction. So it shouldn't be surprising when Yun Shan, who's Yun Leng's teacher, would be even worse and not care who he hurts nor the damage caused, as long as he succeeded/accomplished his goal to destroy his enemy smh.

Too bad it happened to be the MC lol, who happens to have an even more powerful teacher than Yun Leng does, who wasn't having any of that BS from that cowardly b*tch Yun Shan and represented to the fullest, showing what happens to those who f*ck with his student, especially when they were in the wrong and basically bullying the weaker!!

i thought they were just going to wrap some stuff up with a couple special eps after the last season but this is straight up a whole ass season!! each episode just keeps getting better

OfficialDrixMalone • 2 years ago

Yo this is freaking unbelievable, I can't stand how DIVINE this "special" has been!! Every episode literally gets better and better tiers wise, absolutely masterpieces!! It's beyond my expectations and entered the godly zone, each episode springs leagues above each other, which to be able to do that consecutively is on a level most can't reach, let alone doing it effortlessly perfect each time!!

It's driving me insane having to wait for another episode, time has become my ultimate enemy since the beginning of this special lol. And it's so cruel that they're doing this to us, especially me, fiending for more and more like I'm addicted to it, my senses have definitely become addicted and I'm not ashamed to admit it aha.

Freaking AMAZINGLY DIVINE!! I'ma rip my hair out if they keep making me wait for each episode dammit, please it's too much, it's torture lol!! I'm addicted to this and only keeps getting worse after every ending smh. Not many series can make each episode better than the last each freaking time, but this one has exceeded all my expectations and is leagues above most donghua i've seen so far, definitely in the top 10 series of all time donghua!!

Hopefully they finish the series end with a freaking BANG, homerun and set us up for the next season. Thank God I'm alive and got to see this MASTERPIECE in the making, top tier art worthy of praise!!

Dase • 2 years ago

There's another side story after this one, it is a remake of sort, when Xiao Yan and Yao Lao met during the time when he was being insulted, look down upon when he lost his Dou Qi. the side story should released after the new year, then the season 5 after that, I'll keep you guys posted once I have more information

mike • 2 years ago

The problem here is the novel has 1400 -1600 chapter so we are like 5th season here and this is only around 350-400 chapter so by that math we goner need like 20+ season more maybe to finish this series. Not sure if some of us still be alive by then or this series will last that long.
